Who are we?

Our Story

Vaddapally Vivekamma Charitable Trust is a registered charitable organisation headquartered in Medchal-Malkajgiri District, Telangana. We were established in April 2024, but the work that led to our establishment had been going on for much longer than that. The communities we serve, the problems we address, and the relationships we have built are not new. What changed in 2024 was that the work became formal, structured, and legally organised so that it could grow, attract support, and create lasting institutional impact.

The name of the Trust honours Vaddapally Vivekamma, carrying forward a legacy of service and compassion. It is a name chosen with purpose, rooted in the values of the family that founded this organisation and in the spirit of community care that defines everything we do.

Our Founder: Smt. Vaddapally Padma

Smt. Vaddapally Padma is the Founder Trustee and Chairman of VVCT. She is a social worker in the truest sense of that phrase. Not someone who read about poverty in a report, but someone who has lived close to it, worked alongside people experiencing it, and carried a personal, deeply felt sense of responsibility to do something about it.

She grew up in Kondakandla Mandal, Warangal, in a community that understands what limited resources and limited opportunities feel like. That background gave her an understanding of poverty that is not academic. When she walks into a slum settlement in Peerzadiguda or sits with a widow trying to figure out how to pay for her child's school supplies, she is not doing fieldwork. She is continuing a lifelong commitment to the people around her.

What sets Smt. Padma apart as a founder and leader is that she combines this human warmth and grassroots understanding with a clear-eyed vision of the kind of systemic change that is actually needed. She knows that distributing food is necessary, but it is not enough. She knows that a free health camp saves lives on the day it is held, but that without a hospital in the community, those lives remain at risk every other day of the year. This is why VVCT is not content to be a relief organisation. Under her leadership, it is becoming a development institution.

Smt. Padma personally attends VVCT events, health camps, and community programmes. She is present at peace rallies, at distribution drives, at awareness meetings. Her visibility and personal involvement send a message to the communities VVCT serves: this is not an organisation that sends representatives. Its leader is here, in person, because she cares.

She is supported in the Trust's work by her family. Sri Vaddapally Prabhudas, her husband, serves as a Trustee and brings his own experience and dedication to the organisation's governance. Sri Vaddapally Vivek Raju, their son, serves as Treasurer and Trustee, representing the next generation's commitment to continuing this legacy of service.

Where We Work

Our primary area of operation is Medchal-Malkajgiri District in Telangana. Within this district, we are particularly active in Peerzadiguda, Medipalli, Uppal, Kapra, Malkajgiri, and the surrounding peri-urban localities. These areas sit at the edge of Hyderabad's rapid urban expansion, which means they have all the pressures of a growing city without the infrastructure or services that urban proximity should bring.

The communities we work with include slum-dwelling families, daily-wage workers, migrant families who have settled in informal settlements, elderly persons without family support, orphaned and vulnerable children, widows with no income, and unemployed youth who have no access to skill training. Our Trust Deed covers all of India, and we are open to expanding our work wherever there is genuine need and genuine opportunity to create impact.

What We Believe

We believe that poverty is not a personal failing. It is a structural condition created by unequal access to resources, opportunities, education, and healthcare — and it can be changed by structural interventions that are sustained, targeted, and community-rooted. We do not see the people we serve as beneficiaries or recipients. We see them as members of communities that have been underserved, and our job is to help restore what should have been available to them all along.

We believe in the dignity of every human being. The elderly person in our old age home is not a charity case. The child in our school is not doing us a favour by attending. The widow receiving financial support is not dependent. These are people exercising their right to a decent life, and VVCT's role is to help make that possible.

We believe in transparency and accountability. Every rupee donated to VVCT is used for the purposes it was given. Our accounts are audited annually by a Chartered Accountant, and no portion of the Trust's income is ever distributed among trustees or used for personal benefit. We hold ourselves to the same standards of integrity that we ask of the systems and institutions around us.
